新年早々、めっちゃ良い曲を見つけました〜♪
しかもまだYouTubeでの再生回数もそんなに多くなく、デビューしたてのよう。
Alice Merton (アリス・マートン) 。イギリス人とカナダ人のハーフの23歳のAlice。カナダに生まれ、アメリカ、イギリス、ドイツと、今まで４つの国に移り住んできたそう。なんと引越しした回数は11回！すごいですね。Aliceは5歳からピアノを弾き始め、10歳からボーカルレッスンをしていたとか。ドイツのMannheim(マンハイム)にあるPopakademie (ポップアカデミー)という、ポップミュージックと音楽ビジネスの大学を卒業。そんな現代音楽のための大学があるってことにも驚きです。日本だと専門学校くらいですよね？たぶん。。
それはさておき、今回のデビューシングル、"No Roots"。その名の通り、 「ルーツがない」「故郷がない」すなわち「根無し草」です。 彼女のプロフィールからも分かる通り、この曲はAlice自身を表した曲。今まで数々の場所に移り住んできた彼女の気持ちだそう。歌詞を和訳してみましたが、意訳も含んでおりますのでご容赦くださいな。大体の意味ということで。日本語って難しい〜。
